BACKGROUND
The IRC has been working in Somalia since 2006, providing essential services to conflict and disaster affected communities. The IRC has been operational in Central Somalia (Mudug and Galgaduud), Mogadishu and Puntland regions implementing interventions in the areas of livelihood, WASH, Governance, protection and primary health reaching out to more than 250,000 conflict and drought affected Somalis.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Nurse will be working under the direct supervision of the Medical Officer and will be responsible providing quality of health care services to patients as per WHO/IRC protocols and international benchmarks.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or BSc in Nursing from recognized institution
- Ready to work in difficult environmental conditions.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a health program set up.
- Experience working with a non-profit humanitarian organization preferred.
- Flexibility at work.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- A mature person of high professional discipline and moral integrity.
- Knowledge of local Somali language.
- Previous experience within a humanitarian aid organization, in particular working in primary health care programs and conducting nursing.
- Strong counselling skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Competent to work under stress as the situation may dictate.
- Ability to work with displaced communities with diverse cultural and ethnic background.
