Finance Assistant
National position
Fulltime/ 40 hours a week
6 Months contract
Based in Burao Somaliland

Job Purpose
To maintain the financial and administration aspects in such a way that the office running costs are efficiently and effectively administered and accounted for according to the standards and procedures set.
Main tasks of the function
- To register and process procurement invoices and declarations, including the coding of invoices of the mail dispatch companies, and to arrange their initialling and payment.
- To carry out the administrative organisation of all data on payments and receipts of the office running costs, keeping records of all financial mutations.
- To assist in the preparation of financial reports and to inform the manager when spending is not according the (financial) planning;
- To maintain financial records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding, updating and purging;
- To compile various financial documents, verify their accuracy, and ensure compliance with established procedures;
- Ensure proper invoicing on a timely payment of vendors at all times, and manage daily cashbook (payments in and out, balance, etc)
- Liaise closely with the Finance Officer to ensure a high standard of clerical support for financial accounting
- Ensure transactions are fully coded and properly authorized before processing payment and uploading to cashbooks.
- Ensure petty cash is updated and reconciled on a daily basis

- To arrange the entry or change of creditors’ basic data;
- To organize cash flow, including bank account withdrawing, and local cash forecasting
- To assist with general office administration, e.g. printing, photocopying, scanning, receptionist services
- Other support tasks as assigned by management
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Essential
· Recognized qualification in Financial Management
· Two year’s experience in Finance department, ideally in an NGO.
· Ability to support team and program staff
· Proven knowledge and experience of computerized systems.
· Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work on own and within various teams
· Ability to delegate, coach and develop staff
· Ability to manage competing tasks; ability to priorities and produce high level output consistently
· Fluency in English/Somali both verbal and written.
