Job Title: Subject Matter Expert

Reports To: Monitoring, Verification and Reporting Officer
Classification: Consultant
Overview: IBTCI is seeking to recruit and maintain in its Consultant Database the following Subject Matter Experts (SME) for its monitoring and verification work in Somalia:
- Education
- Economic Growth, with skill in Value Chains, Economic Policy, Business Development
- Democracy and Governance, with skills in elections, community-led governance,
- Stabilization
- Institutional Capacity Development, with particular knowledge of Somalia's governmental institutions. Somali nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
The SMEs will be required to undertake the following tasks:
- Review existing data collection tools
- Improve the data collection tools to increase the significance and quality of the data collected
- Analyze the data collected through the use of these tools such that the outcomes are situated within the Somali context
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Significant past experience working in Somalia in one of the fields listed above;
- Current expert knowledge of one of the subjects listed above in Somalia;
- Well-developed network of Somali contacts;
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and keep to tight deadlines.
Minimum Requirements:
- More than 3 years of experience working in Somalia in relevant field;
- Outstanding writing skills in English
- Oral and written fluency in Somali required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required. Master’s degree or higher strongly preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Working Environment: Work is performed in a typical corporate office environment.
Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
Travel: International travel required.
