The Somaliland Development Fund (SDF) is a 4-year fund designed to support the Government of Somaliland (GoSL) filling a critical gap supporting projects that are fully aligned to the National Development Plan (NDP). SDF is currently funded by the Department for International Development (DFID), the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The management of the SDF Secretariat has been contracted to BMB Mott MacDonald, an international consulting company, which is responsible for the management of the fund on behalf of the Government of Somaliland and the donors.
The SDF has allocated funding for the implementation of the Development Communications Project in Somaliland implemented by the Ministry of National Planning and Development (MoNPD). The MoNPD intends to use part of the funding to engage the services of a Media Training Facilitator (1) and a Training Co-facilitator (1) to design and deliver a training programme for Somaliland Journalists in research techniques, writing and reporting on development projects.
The Somaliland Development Fund Secretariat now invites applications from qualified candidates for this assignment.
Required Qualifications/Skills Training Facilitator
Qualifications and skills
· At least a Master’s Degree in communications, journalism or related field with seven years’ experience.
· Demonstrated excellent command of spoken and written English; and
· Excellent training facilitation skills.
General professional experience
· Five years of experience in journalism, development communication with leading media houses or as a communication expert for donor funded development projects.
Specific professional requirements
· At least three years of demonstrated experience in development of training materials and practical training of journalists / media practitioners;
· Have conducted at least 2 training covering similar scope to the one outlined in the assignment targeted at journalists / media practitioners.

· At least a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism or related field with five years’ experience.
· Demonstrated excellent command of spoken and written English; and
· Excellent training facilitation skills.
General professional experience
· Three years of experience in journalism, development communication with leading media houses or as a communication expert for donor funded development projects.
Specific professional requirements
· Have participated in facilitating at least 1 training covering similar scope to the one outlined in the assignment targeted at journalists / media practitioners.
