OCBA stands for Operational Centre Barcelona-Athens and is made up of four Operational Cells (OCs), the Emergency Unit and the Humanitarian Affairs Unit (HAU) and other departments or services supporting Operations. MSF-OCBA is currently present in around 20 countries.
MSF is looking for a Paediatrics Activity Manager for MSF mission in Somalia- Baidoa
MAIN PURPOSE
Ensure the proper functioning of the medical activities under his/her responsibility, defining and implementing MSF policies, protocols and procedures, and guaranteeing the quality of healthcare in order to improve health conditions of the target population. With a focus on paediatrics, the pediatric medical activities manager will define and implementing MSF policies, protocols and procedures, and guaranteeing the quality of pediatric healthcare in order to improve health conditions of the target population and decrease U5 mortality rate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working in BRH which is only facility offering pediatric and neonatal services in Bay region, the pediatric Medical Doctor will support MOH Medical doctors through continued on job trainings, capacity building and remote support from Nairobi.
- Working closely with MSF MAM, NAM, PMR, and BRH Medical Director who is the MDs supervisor from MOH side the pediatric medical doctors have to assess the training needs of the MDs focusing on pediatric and neonatal cases management and familiarizing MSF protocols and come up with training plan for the medical doctors.
- Closely supporting medical doctors in ER/Observation and Pediatric and neonatal IPD the medical doctor has to participate on a daily bases ward round using virtual (videos) if not in Baidoa to improve the clinical quality of care by implementing weekly clinical case discussions using telemedicine tools.
- Participate in the programs / project follow-up, monitoring reports, supervise and ensure that medical activities objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved and report to the technical referent any problem arising in the service.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience
- Essential Medical Doctor Degree with specialization in Pediatrics. Desirable specialization or training in Tropical Medicine or related studies
- Essential 2 years working experience related to the degree. Desirable experience in MSF or similar organization. Experience in nutrition is a plus
Language and skills
- Essential English. Knowledge of Somali local languages is a plus
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
